BEWARE - DO NOT GIFT YOUR SIM CARD
COURTESY DECCAN CHRONICLE
SIM cards shouldn’t be gifted
One wrong move can mar your future for life And this is a lesson that Bangalore Doctor Md Haneef will remember no matter what the outcome of the case Haneef had given his SIM card to his cousin Dr Sabeel Ahmed whose brother Kafeel attempted to blow up Glagow airport Haneef was charged with involvement in the failed UK terror plot.
When people opt to change their cellphone connections or relocate to another place many a times, they choose to gift the phone to a friend or a relative What they do not realize is that the phone remains registered in their name and if anything goes wrong or amis he /she will be pulled up for interrogation or investigation
Most of the cell companies instruct users to surrender the phone before relocating to another city. Even if you gift the phone you should always inform the company's office, transfer the ownership in name to whom you had gifted , by signing relevant documents. These measures will avoid future avoidable compliations.

BEWARE SOFTWARE PROFESSIONALS - EVERYTHING IS NOT SWEET IF YOU DO NOT CARE
Something All Software Professionals should knowSix software professionals under the age of 33 have died and 2 top executives from renowned software companies have become paralysed because ofstress-related heart ailments in the last six months in Chennai, says a studyby Mitran Foundation, a Bangalore-based voluntary association of practising doctors."All the six who died, and the two who became invalid, had no family historyof heart attacks or any pre-history of heart ailments or paralysis. They wereall in their prime, between 27 and 33 years, and handled challenging projects at work in their respective companies. They worked long and continuous hours. The end struck them very suddenly, and it looked as if their hearts refusedto take any more stress," said Dr Dwarakanath, director of Mitran Foundation, who has studied stress components in 40 software companies in Chennai duringthe last six months. The study, conducted at a cost of Rs 45 lakhs, covered more than 4,000software professionals from 80 companies who were in service for a minimum of three years. The email responses were scientifically tabulated and thefindings were ready in 2002. Dr Dwarakanath, who was the late DhirubhaiAmbani's personal stress management consultant, said questionnaires extracting every minute detail were sent to the respondents. The personalbackground, family history and personal characteristics of these individualswere assessed and it was found that the stress in these professionals was only due to work pressure. All other factors were eliminated."Our study confirmed that the number of suicides, divorces, heart ailments,BP and diabetes patients and mental depression are the highest in the software industry. The fancy salaries of software professionals are no longersomething to rejoice about," Dr Dwarakanath said."We found that the software industry has simply no routine. Deadlines hang before them and every day they chase new problems. During weekends more than60 per cent of the vehicles are found parked in the office complexes. Thereis no physical exercise and new food habits favoured by pizza culture fuel the problem. Cervical spondilitis and wrist problems due to uncomfortablehandling of the computer mouse, eye problems and discomfort in bowelmovements are common. The stress for couples where both are employed in the IT industry is the worst. The simple step of taking time off from work for three months allowedan IT couple wanting a child for years to conceive one," Dr Dwarakanath said.M.T.R. Venu kopalan, senior training coordinator, Covansys India , acknowledged that IT professionals were the most stressed individuals. "Even if thecompany sponsors a movie or self-care lecture, not many attend them," hesaid. Jyothsana, a travel coordinator for Temenos India Pvt Ltd, expressed concern for the young employees who complain of back and knee pains. Sheacknowledged that IT professionals require a specific eating and physicalexercise routine to ease their stress. "Our lives are becoming mechanical, guided only by deadlines," she said.So think again if you are staying late in the office regularly. Think againabout your family. Think again about your social life and health. Please forward it to your friends too... Work is essential. Your contribution to the goal should begreat. But, please don't make it a habit to stay late.Don't skip your Break Fast /Lunch/Dinner. None of these are equated by Pizza,Biscuits / Wafers / Chat items

modern panchatantra - humor story
Once upon a time, there was a software engineer who used to develop programs on his Pentium machine, sitting under a tree on the banks of a river. He used to earn his bread by selling those programs in the Sunday market. One day, while he was working, his machine tumbled off the table and fell in the river. Encouraged by the Panchatantra story of his childhood (the woodcutter and the axe ), he started praying to the River Goddess. The River Goddess wanted to test him and so appeared only after one month of rigorous prayers. The engineer told her that he had lost his computer in the river. As usual, the Goddess wanted to test his honesty. She showed him a match box and asked, " Is this your computer ?" Disappointed by the Goddess's lack of computer awareness, the engineer replied, " No."She next showed him a pocket-sized calculator and asked if that was his. Annoyed, the engineer said "No, not at all !!" Finally, she came up with his own Pentium machine and asked if it was his.The engineer, left with no option, sighed and said " Yes."The River Goddess was happy with his honesty. She was about to give him all three items but, before she could make the offer, the engineer asked her, "Don't you know that you're supposed to show me some better computers before bringing up my own ?"The River Goddess, angered at this, replied, "I know that, you stupid donkey ! The first two things I showed you were the Trillennium and the Billennium, the latest computers from IBM !". So saying, she disappeared with the Pentium !! ********Moral : If you're not up-to-date with technology trends , it is better to keep your mouth shut and let people think you are a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.

SEZ AND THE PROBLEMS
The Special Economic Zone popularly known as SEZ was perhaps one of the media for
a] improvement of infrastructure
b] generation of direct employment
based on the above Government extends certain fringe benefits and tax holiday to companies who set their operations up at these zones The way this works was probably different than the perspective with which this was annonced.
We find lots of IT and ITES corporates boarding into this laudable zones. If one swims deeper astonishingly it would be found that these IT & ITES Corporates - who can afford an establisment in this otherwise expensive zones with its frills - are predominantly or perhaps the only stakeholders here. Are we achieving what we want in getting these corporates into SEZ - a question which needs to be pondered. The cash rich companies in these sectors will get further more incentives and holidays -which would have been more beneficial to manufacturing kind of set up where besides improving the infrastructure will also create lots of direct employment opportunities in and arouund the area better than the white collar jobs offered by the these sectors
Also think of those software companies who have an existing client base but cannot shift out of STPI to SEZ what is the fate of these companies if the STPI soaps are withdrawn do we then vote for continuance of STPI concurrently with SEZ probably with a difference in the degree of incentives provided
